5 Examples of Interactive Demos from Starter Users

7 minute read

We recently launched our freemium Starter offer — you can read a bit more about why we made that the decision to go PLG.

But in this post, we want to highlight some of our favorite examples of starter interactive demos and show off various use cases for the free plan’s one free demo.

5 Examples of Interactive Demos from Starter Users

Below, you’ll find our take on starter demos for five very different companies, sharing what we found unique about each demo and explaining how it’s applied in the GTM motion.

Headspace

Company overview: Headspace is a mental health platform offering meditation and mindfulness resources — not just for consumers but for employees, too.

They used their free Navattic demo to highlight their B2B Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering, which provides therapy, coaching, and work-life services to support employee well-being.

Use case: Feature showcase for their EAP experience

After a few sections explaining who Headspace EAP is for and what’s included in each plan, the team embeds their Navattic demo.

It’s stylized like the actual Headspace app, giving buyers a good sense of how their employees will engage with it, schedule time with caregivers, and access supplemental videos, meditation support, and more.

The demo also points out that members can request other support services — like in-person therapy and a 24/7 phone line — at any time, showing off the app’s versatility.

At the end of the tour, prospects are invited to book a demo with the sales team to see the full scope of what Headspace EAP has to offer.

Inncivio

Company overview: Inncivio is a B2B SaaS platform that creates personalized, short training content to upskill employees and help them grow professionally.

Demo location: Their Navattic demo appears once users create a free account.

Use case: Onboarding for their free trial

One of the more common interactive demo use cases — outside of adding one to a company website — is new user onboarding.

Showing them exactly how the most popular (and useful) features work improves adoption and engagement rates.

Inncivio went that route with their free demo. As soon as a new free account gets spun up, users are dropped into a full-screen interactive demo that runs through the basics of the platform.

Getting users familiar with the tool and its capabilities at the outset gets them excited to start using it — potentially enough to convert to a paid subscription.

Coolset

Company overview: Coolset enables companies to track their greenhouse gas emissions and implement strategies to achieve Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) compliance.

Demo location: www.coolset.com

Use case: Mini demo center embedded on the homepage

Coolset introduces its interactive demo early, with a secondary “Product tour” CTA right after its headline.

This button takes users down the page, where they can “Meet the Platform.”

There, they have the option to take a compliance management tour, a carbon management tour, or a customized demo.

The compliance management tour is shown by default and runs users through each component of the platform, from reporting to surveys to disclosures.

At the end of the tour, prospects are prompted to “Get started,” which opens an embedded demo booking form.

This form reminds them of Coolset’s core value props and the big-name customers who already trust their software, pushing them further toward conversion.

Motivote

Company overview: Motivote is a tool that gamifies election readiness and civic engagement with planning, tools, reminders, and more.

Demo location: https://www.motivote.us/demo

Use case: CTA on the home page

Motivote pushes visitors to take a product tour from the get-go with a “View Demo” CTA above the fold:

Clicking on the View Demo button refreshes the page, and a full-screen interactive demo appears.

Users have the option to either “Join Now,” which takes them to a free trial, or “Look Around,” which starts the tour.

Or, on the bottom left, they can use the Feature Overview to jump straight to specific features like Registration Check, Leaderboard, and Rewards.

This ensures visitors spend time exploring the aspects of Motivote that they actually care about, ultimately leading to more “aha” moments.

Running through these multi-step tours not only educates prospects bout Motivote’s benefits but helps prepare them for a more in-depth conversation with the sales team.

Corso

Company overview: Corso handles the post-purchase process for e-commerce companies, including warranty, shipping protections, tracking, and ticket handling.

Demo location: https://corso.com/

Use case: Website embed on homepage (form gated)

Like others in our list, Corso pushes site visitors to their product tour just below the fold.

But what’s unique is their use of dynamic images and language — they really leaned into a “going on tour” theme:

Upon clicking the play button, a new tab opens to a full-screen gated demo. Users fill out a 1-field form — so that Corso can identify them via email — and then get prompted to “Start the Tour.”

We like that the Corso team stuck with the music-related copy on this page as well:

Throughout the tour, users follow the behind-the-scenes of Carl’s Surf Shop, a fake t-shirt store.

First, Corso highlights how customers can add premium services at checkout and join the customer portal. From there, interactive demo users can either book a demo or explore the customer portal.

If they choose the second option, they see how Corso tracks and displays order details and its end-to-end return and exchange workflow, demonstrating how powerful of a retention tool Corso can be.
